Thinsulate® or Gore-Tex® ?

Thinsulate® (made by Dupont®) is typically used in work boots and hiking shoes to insulate against cold weather.  Typically, Thinsulate® is laminated to the whole shoe lining or glued into the toe area of the shoe or boot.  Thinsulate® is not waterproof.  Gore-Tex®, on the other hand, is a breathable waterproof membrane that has little insulating value.

The CR-Foam used in the Muck Boot™  Brand Footwear is both waterproof and self-insulating.  We believe that the materials used in the Muck Boot™  Brand Footwear provides superior performance in both areas, providing excellent insulation AND waterproofing!  Your entire foot is surrounded in warm, dry comfort.

Sizing

Muck Boot™  Brand Footwear is made to standard US sizes for men and women (unisex sizing).  Muck Boot™  Brand Footwear is available in whole sizes only.  There is a 15 mm toe allowance built into the sizing.  Muck Boot™  Brand Footwear will stretch to fit those with wider feet.

Hi or Mid Cut

We've found that the Tack Hi-Cut is the most popular model--especially since it is so easy to roll down the upper.  We did find, however, that with some of the smaller sizes, the mid-cut was preferred.  See the sizes we carry in each style in the sizing section directly above.

Upper Collar

The upper calf and topline areas are made of soft, flexible CR-Foam that will stretch to fit virtually any calf comfortably.  With the flexible upper, the pant leg can be worn either inside or outside of the boot.  One really nifty feature is that the collar material can be turned down to allow hands-free removal and to vent humidity when working conditions turn warmer.

Thick Socks??

It is not necessary to wear thick, bulky socks with Muck Boot™  Brand Footwear unless activities are planned for extremely cold conditions.  The CR-Foam material is rated to -10° F and will effectively withstand wind chills of up to -50° F.  

Hate Sweaty Feet?

Unlike pack boots, Muck Boot™  Brand Footwear does not have an inner felt liner.  Felt liners are very hot and can cause skin irritation with prolonged use.  Muck Boot™  Brand Footwear is lined with a thin, moisture-control material that wicks away humidity and perspiration.  The lining can be dried in seconds using a household blow drier!  The lining is both non-abrasive and hypo-allergenic.

Easy Cleaning & Repair!

The natural-rubber shell and nylon upper are very durable and clean up easily with a spray of water and/or a gentle scrubbing with soap and water.  

The rubber upper can also be easily repaired with a sealant found in most local hardware stores.  We recommend using Goop brand marine sealant.
