Yeast+
Yeast Culture + Active Dry Yeast
HorseTech Yeast+ offers a superior blend of concentrated, premium quality
yeast culture and live cell yeast. Livestock producers have used yeast in livestock
feeds since the 1920's. Today yeast products for animal production fall under the
broader definition of Direct Fed Microbial (DFM's) and contain either active dry
yeast and/or yeast culture.
HorseTech Yeast+ is an excellent source of both
--concentrated yeast culture and active dry yeast. While the nutritional benefits of
yeast culture are believed to be derived from metabolites that are residual to the
fermentation process, live cell yeast is highly fermentative and serves as a digestive
aid. The combination of yeast culture and live cell yeast will yield the best that
each has to offer.
Each one (1) ounce feeding of HorseTech Yeast+ will provide
over 14 billion live, viable yeast cells with the total yeast cell per ounce count
surpassing 25 billion! Our live cell yeast cultures have been selected for
performance, viability and stability when mixed in feed.
How Yeast Culture Works:
Yeast culture is a natural product that results from the
fermentation of live cell yeast on a grain media ( in this case, a corn germ meal).
During the culturing process, metabolites are produced. Metabolites might
be described as the various organic compounds that result from the process of metabolism
(the complex process involved in the maintenance of the life of a live yeast cell).
It is these metabolites that are stimulate the beneficial bacteria in the horse's
digestive tract!
Metabolites present in yeast culture serve to increase the
fermenting activity of the bacteria in the colon and cecum allowing for greater
utilization of the nutrients present in the diet. Fiber and forages will also
be digested more extensively as a result of this increased fermentation process. The
utilization of other nutrients present in the diet such as protein and phosphorus will be
improved as well.
How Active Dry Yeast* Works:
It is believed that yeast produce B-vitamins, proteins and
other essential nutrients that beneficial microbes may use for increased growth. The
result is improved digestibility of protein, fiber and minerals along with improved
protein and mineral retention.
